Yajie Yuan

Yajie Yuan

Assistant Professor

Yajie received her PhD from Stanford University in 2016, was a Lyman Spitzer, Jr. Postdoctoral Fellow at Princeton, and a Flatiron Research Fellow at the Center for Computational Astrophysics before joining WashU in 2022.

John Mehlhaff

John Mehlhaff

Postdoc / researcher

John joined the group in 2025. He works on how particles in extreme black-hole and neutron-star environments become accelerated and radiate across the electromagnetic spectrum.

Dominic Bernardi

Dominic Bernardi

Graduate student

Dominic joined the group in 2022. He works on nonlinear plasma processes in magnetar magnetospheres relevant for fast radio bursts.

Martin Luepker

Martin Luepker

Graduate student

Martin joined the group in 2022. He works on using GRPIC simulations to understand collisionless plasma processes around black holes.

Mehrnoosh Rahbardar Mojaver

Mehrnoosh Rahbardar Mojaver

Graduate student

Mehrnoosh joined the group in 2022. She is working on probing kink-driven nonthermal emission in jets using 3D PIC simulations.

Alumni

Tegan Thomas

Undergraduate researcher, Class of 2025

Thomas was an undergraduate student at WashU majoring in astrophysics and computer science. He worked on interactive visualizations of magnetar bursts and PIC simulations of Alfven waves entering the charge-starved regime. He is now a PhD student at Virginia University.
